T89 – Single Seater Locost

The original T89 Plans Built Race Car. The Single Seater Locost was

designed to be simple and cheap to build as well as competitive in

motorsport and robust & easy to maintain.

The SSL has achieved in spades. Over 20 cars are being built worldwide

in many different forms from budget MX5 based builds to full fire

breathing 1000cc chain drive race cars. The cars have taken many wins

and championships in the UK and New Zealand and proved to be reliable

and strong over the last 4 years of competition.

Built from comprehensive plans with full support anyone from beginner to

pro can build an SSL to their ability and budget.

T89 – Razorbill

The 2nd T89 car answers the two most asked question of the SSL “can you

do a 2 seater?” & “can you do one with a car engine?” Yes, yes we can,

we can also make it look gorgeous!

Using an off-the-shelf recreation of the Lola 492 Sports 200 bodywork

and a plentiful and powerful Audi 1.8 20V Turbo engine you two can build

a track day, sprint and race monster. Did we mention that this is a full

ground effect car with huge venturi tunnels either side?

The car uses more off the shelf parts than SSL such as pedal box, fuel

tank and VW/Audi bearing carriers and hubs to make the build simple. Its

designed to be robust to take the big power the 1.8t engine can easily

achieve and the load from the underbody downforce.

Comprehensive plans allow this car to be built by most people, although

we wouldn’t recommend this one for complete novice car builders.
